Dining in White River Junction, VT

Tip Top Cafe'Carol and I love to eat out and the old railroad town charm of White River Junction, VT makes it an attractive locale for a night out.  We dined at the Tip Top Café the other night for the first time in several months, and unfortunately,  it was the same menu that we have seen for all the years we have been going there.  Don’t get me wrong, the food is good and the staff is attentive, yet year after year seeing the same menu and eating the same thing just gets a little boring.  No draft beer is another bummer…..  The space is great, the rotating art on display is always interesting, and the outside patio is nice.  If you have not tried the Tip Top Café, it is certainly a great night out and an even better lunch, you should check them out.

ElixirElixir “remixed” is another great dining destination in White River Jct.  You literally can smell creosote from the railroad ties in the freight yard and occasionally get to see the Amtrak train roll by giving the place a very cool industrial chic feel.  The interior is mostly brick with high ceilings, nice lighting and a great bar.  Live music is frequently featured and is often excellent. Look out for Johnny Bishop, he is a great Blues style harp player who often plays with Ed Eastridge.  An extensive menu offers appetizers, small plates and full dinners; our favorite is the pulled pork sandwich.  And the good news is…………….they do have a selection of beers on tap.
