Help the Haven!

The Haven, www.uppervalleyhaven.org , the local homeless shelter/food shelf  for families in White River Junction, VT, had a small note in this weekends Valley News that they are suffering a decline in donations and could use help.  They asked that people clean out their pantries and bring those items that sit there and never get used, so I did.  I ended up coming up with 3 large boxes of good food in unopened packaging that they were glad to receive and we obviously did not need.  If you live around here, it is a great way to help someone out while cleaning out those cupboards that need cleaning out anyway.

As part Housing Solutions Real Estate business plan, it is our intention to align our name with others who provide solutions for housing causes in the Upper Valley area.  The Haven is a fine example of a Housing Solution to an intractable problem in our back yard and we are glad we can help.  When I dropped off the food, I also dropped off a check for $100.00 as a donation on behalf of recent clients who have closed on homes with us.

When a client purchases a home with us, as a closing gift we give them one of the homes made by Essence of Art in North Conway, NH that are displayed in our window and office area at 5 Allen Street, Hanover, NH.  Each home is created by a developmentally disabled artist who earns half the sale price when we purchase a home from them.  The other half goes to Essence of Art to provide the crafting and retail space.  When a client receives one as a closing gift, we will in turn donate the listed price of the home to the Haven.  The houses are also available for sale and we will again donate the proceeds to the Haven.  They make a great gift or just a wonderful addition to your home.
